The Paris-based AXA group has appointed one of its own people, Les Owen, to the position of AXA Australia chief executive. He is AXA's (National Mutual) third chief executive in less than two years and takes over the position from Tony Killen, who retires in December.
Owen is the chief executive of the UK's third-largest life company, Axa Sun Life Holdings plc (the company formed after the merger between Axa and UAP in 1997). .
At AXA he will pursue the new growth strategies put in place over the past year. The company is looking to hit targets of 15 per cent return on equity, 15 per cent annual growth in operating profit and 15 per cent growth in dividends.
