Rod Carr is the Reserve Bank's new deputy governor. He replaces Dick Lang who retires in early July.
Carr is currently group general manager, global payments, with the National Australia Bank in Melbourne. He has spent the past 15 years working in commercial banking, life insurance and investment management since first joining Bank of New Zealand in 1982.
He formerly headed BNZ's Financial Services Group based in Wellington.
Carr's qualifications include a PhD in insurance and risk management, and a Masters degree in applied economics and managerial science from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, an MBA in money and financial markets from Colombia University, New York and degrees in law and economics from Otago University.
