Blackmail claim as subdivision row heats up

Correspondence obtained by The Press between the chief executives of both councils shows the legal action over the city council's Aidanfield stormwater system, which was built without resource consent, has caused serious acrimony.

ECan is taking the city council to court over an alleged unauthorised discharge from the system which saw four tonnes of contaminants wash into the Cashmere Stream.

The two councils have previously agreed to a "no surprises" relationship, which the city council contends has been undermined by the legal action.
