BNZ moves; ASB tries to get people moving
BNZ has today lowered pricing on its floating home loan rate products including its Total Money Offset loan.
In other news ASB has launched a competition tied to its sponsorship of the Auckland Marathon. Apparently 10 people can get a two-year home loan rate equivalent to their finishing time. The trouble with this is the average time last year was 4h 27minutes. That's not far off the rates offered in the market and also means for half the runners (including plodders like me) there is no benefit. Competitions like this where the benefits aren't universal aren't particularly appealing.
It seems more like the event is having trouble getting entries as it's on the same day as the World Cup Final. Disclosure: This writer will be at the start line anyway.
