Cancer cover suits direct market
Monday 18th of May 2015
It provides a payment of up to $80,000 on a cancer diagnosis.
Cigna only deals direct with the public and chief executive Lance Walker said there was a segment of the market who did not feel the need to deal with advisers.
He said the cancer cover was a simple product that was easy to understand. Because it was not underwritten, it was easy to apply for. “It suits the direct model.”
No medical checks or tests are required. Pre-existing conditions are not covered.
Walker said research had shown that cancer was the illness New Zealanders were most worried about. “We believe that the reassurance of knowing that you can receive a lump sum payment upon a cancer diagnosis is something many New Zealanders will appreciate.”
