Christchurch advisers - put your hands up for help

Tuesday 22nd of February 2011

Just before 1pm, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit Christchurch and it has been followed by constant aftershocks, some as powerful as magnitude 5. Multiple deaths have been reported to police.

The Institute of Financial Advisers (IFA) is asking advisers in Christchurch whether they are members or not, to approach it for help. It is also asking members in centres outside of Christchurch to see what they can do to give assistance.

The New Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association (NZMBA) chairman Darren Pratley says thoughts and prayers are with the families of financial service practitioners in Christchurch and it will be looking to support members, who can contact the Association.

The Professional Advisers Association (PAA) expresses sympathy to families affected by the earthquake and is asking advisers to let it know if it can be of any assistance.

PAA chief executive Edward Richards says "we want to send our best wishes to all those affected by the earthquake, our thoughts are with you in this terrible time of tragedy.

"If there's anything the PAA office can do to help affected families, please don't hesitate to contact us."
