Christchurch council offers to test properties on former dump

The properties are among 84 privately owned parcels of land on the former Aranui-Wainoni landfill, which was closed in 1942 and developed for housing.
Six of the properties have already been tested by the council, with &ive fond to epceed New Zealandpguideldnes for(contaminants.
On Friday, the council sent a letter to each of the owners inviting them to a public meeting to discuss testing.
Environmental consultants Montgomery Watson Hazra NZ Ltd would carry out tests between August 9 and September 17, council environmental effects team leader Klaus Prusas said.
