CIOs to go

Sunday 3rd of December 2000
The merger of AXA and Alliance Capital has lead to changes in the asset management teams.
Under the merged entity (and consistent with the Alliance Capital structure globally) there will be no dedicated chief investment officers. Harry Cator in Australia and Barry Lindsay in New Zealand have therefore been made redundant
In New Zealand, all other investment staff have been retained, albeit with altered responsibilities. Andrew Bascand assumes responsibility for asset allocation, in addition to his role as New Zealand equity manager. James Thyne, presently head of wholesale funds management, steps up to take responsibility for the New Zealand operations of Alliance Capital.
