Coastal land values threaten Kiwi holiday dream
Wednesday 14th of April 2004
Blue Heron Holiday Park at Tamaterau, 14km south-east of Whangarei, is the most recent listing on the market, with its owner Maureen Ross saying it was likely to be bought for development.
The land on which Ngunguru Holiday Park operates is also for sale – its lease expires in 2009 – and several campgrounds in the Far North, including Taipa Holiday Park, are also for sale.
The 8170sq m archetypal Blue Heron site, nestled on the edge of Whangarei Harbour beside a prime fishing spot, is being marketed as an "irreplaceable waterfront location".
Mrs Ross would not discuss the price, saying that would be set by the amount a buyer was prepared to pay.
