About 20 years ago, I started to read and learn a little about the Law of Attraction, which simply says - you will attract into your life whatever you focus on.

Whatever you give your energy and attention to, will come back to you. In basic terms, all thoughts turn into things eventually. If you focus on negative doom and gloom you will remain under that cloud. If you focus on positive thoughts and have goals that you aim to achieve, you will find a way to achieve them with massive action.

It seems too simple for most people, or they just don’t believe it.

Put another way, think of all the radio stations that are now playing in the room, at your desk, in the car, work place etc, wherever you may be right now.

Even though you may not be able to hear any of them, it doesn’t mean they are not playing - or transmitting. The reason why you can’t hear them is because you aren’t tuned into the frequency of any of those stations. If you were to tune into any of them, you could listen to whatever is being broadcast on each station, but only one station at a time.

Now, imagine yourself as the transmitter, transmitting at a certain frequency or vibration. Whatever frequency you are emitting or transmitting out into the Universe, comes back to you matching your frequency, which shows up as more evidence to validate your thoughts, or your own truth.

In other words, what your own frequency is that you put out, can only be attracted back to you.

For example, all of us have different opinions on any subject you can think of. The belief we hold is transmitted out and we attract back more evidence to confirm our ideas and beliefs.

Here are some examples of a few beliefs that people have: -

  1. People always leave me in relationships.
  2. I am overweight and unhealthy, I cannot lose weight and keep it off
  3. Saving money is too hard to do, I don’t even earn enough money to save any of it
  4. There is a heaven and hell just like the Bible says, God is real
  5. The government has our best interests at heart.
  6. The Covid 19 pandemic was planned a long time ago and people are so blind not able to see it, they are being brain-washed by the government and the media
  7. Rich people are evil and don’t pay enough tax. A wealth tax is a great idea, I’m voting for The Greens
  8. Donald Trump is the best/worst President the United States has ever had
  9. The world is divided into good and bad & right and wrong
  10. I will be happy when ....

Here is a quote I put in my first book which helps to explain it more: - "Many plane accidents occur because pilots' perceptions filter out and discard reality. An aircraft may be heading towards the ground, yet if the pilot believes the plane is level, he will ignore his instrumentation with a rationalisation that it is wrong."

Similarly, juries are known to have made up their mind about a case usually by the end of the second day of a trial. What then happens is they filter out any new information that does not agree with their perceptions, and concentrate only on that which agrees with their biases.

Individuals act as filters for all information they receive; each fact is measured against a set of personal, social, cultural or religious biases and then incorporated into an individual's consciousness.

Everything we do is coloured by our perceptions and expectations. Information is always distorted, and if it doesn't fit our beliefs - it is discarded."
