Disability housing crisis looms

One organisation in Palmerston North has about 50 people in this situation, and smaller organisations have one or two each, Manawatu Stewart Centre Trust manager Janet Webb said.
These people are on a waiting list and have to go into inappropriate housing if there isn't a residential option available, she said.
The age group most affected is between 40 and 60, but younger people also suffer when families get respite care, Mrs Webb said.
The pinch is also hitting non-disabled people 65 and older, various groups said.
