DIY under threat in bill proposal

Do-it-yourselfers are angry over proposed changes to the Building Bill which could see them have to pay a qualified builder to supervise their work.
Buried in discussion documents proposing adjuncts to the Building Bill - designed to avoid another leaky buildings crisis - is a proposal that unqualified do-it-yourselfers have their work supervised and signed-off by a licensed builder if renovations cost over a certain amount.
The amount is yet to be decided but $10,000 is the starting figure.
