This Special Report provides readers with detailed information about why the technology sector is so important, plus it outlines all the main options investors have for plugging tech into their portfolio.
Tech is undoubtedly the hot. BT launched its TIME fund into Australia in March and expected to pick up about A$100 million in the first 12 months. Instead it raised more than A$120 million in the first two months.
The explosion in the number of investment options available illustrates the popularity for tech. A year ago an investor wanting to buy into the sector had a limited choice now there is a whole range of options and these are detailed in this Special Report
Options range from buying shares in offshore tech companies directly (Tech Stocks Portfolios Ltd), through to the use of unlisted managed funds (TIME and Wired) through to listed UK investment trusts and US listed index funds.
Besides a range of investment structures there is also the choice of taking a passive or active approach to tech. One of the defining characteristics of the tech sector is that investment managers are still trying to get their heads around how to classify it, and there are a number of indices which are being used as benchmarks.
