High rents pushing more families on to State house list

More than 800 families are now waiting on Housing New Zealand homes in Christchurch – with at least 34 families in "severe" need.

In the past three months, 130 extra Christchurch families have joined the queue for affordable government housing.

Welfare agencies and rental agents today warned there was little end in sight to the rental shortage in the city.
