Himatangi house prices head skyward

The village of Himatangi, with its "Ava Rest" and "Costa Mint" Fibrolite baches, is up for grabs as buyers find Foxton Beach and other more southerly beach spots too expensive.
Prices for both sections and baches are on the move. One woman told the Manawatu Standard she was offered $40,000 for a large corner section and caravan she bought two years ago for $12,000. Other properties are selling for double their valuation.
Another village resident said people are trying their luck by asking for some optimistic prices on property "you couldn't give away" a year or so ago.
