Fixed rates rising quickly

The most marked increases have been in the cost of five year loans driven by sharp rises in the five year swap. BNZ was paying 7.71% for five year funding at the end of last week compared with 7.4% a fortnight earlier. The bank’s mortgage rates are all priced at above their five year averages. Today it has withdrawn its seven-year rate.
