Former mortgage broker Buddle charged
Tuesday 4th of September 2012
The Kapiti Coast-based Buddle, 32, was arrested last Friday, freed on bail and is due to appear in Porirua District Court today on the charges which, if proven, each carry prison terms of up to seven years, according to the Stuff website.
Kapiti-based sergeant Jacquie Muir said Buddle's clients lost about $1 million in total and their complaints had taken 18 months to investigate.
Five people have had to sell their homes because Buddle failed to repay the money she borrowed.
Last month, Buddle pleaded guilty to deception charges related to her staying in motels without paying and is due to be sentenced on those charges in October.

This development (Buddle being charged finally) has been a long time coming and will be welcomed by all those who had the misfortune to cross this woman’s path. No doubt those lenders/insurers that continued to deal with Buddle right to the end will be keeping a low profile during the upcoming trial. These companies should be named publically especially when others had previously elected not to deal with her given her reputation. As is usually the case in our industry as long as she was making someone money people continued to deal with her or made excuses for why she was allowed to keep operating.
