Nelson's growth under spotlight

Over the weekend the council completed a series of public meetings on options it has come up with to cater for up to 8600 new houses that could be needed by 2051.
Mr Quickfall said more than 100 people turned up to the six public meetings and expressed a range of views on the growth options set out in the Nelson Urban Growth Strategy.
Not a single person thought Nelson should be completely opened up for expansion, with the majority wanting to restrict growth to a certain extent, Mr Quickfall said.
Those who wanted no growth were in the minority.
