AJ wins award

Tuesday 10th of February 1998
Armstrong Jones has once again been crowned fund manager of the year by FPG Research.
This is the fifth consecutive year AJ has won this award, which previously was sponsored by FPG-related company FinancialAlert.
In recognition of its long reign at the top of these awards AJ were, on Tuesday night, presented with an award as fund manager of the decade.
Runners up this year were Tower Trust Services and BT Funds Management.
The FPG award is one of two fund manager of the year awards made in New Zealand. It is based on a survey of advisers which rank managers on five categories including adviser service, investor service, organisational management and administration service.
This year AJ won all five categories in the award process.
The FPG award is predicated on the notion that since advisers are responsible for the bulk of the money invested in managed funds they are the most appropriate people to decide who is the best fund manager.
Rival research house IPAC Securities is due to announce its fund manager of the year award later in the year.
Its award is based on what it calls the four Ps, namely; people, process, performance and portfolio.
