Adviser regulation
The Securities Commission has put back its plans for releasing its recommendations about how to regulate advisers.

Originally the commission planned to send its report and recommendations to the Minister of Commerce before Christmas. This has now been put back until early in the New Year.

Once the minister has the commission's recommendations he will decide what action to take.

The recommendations are understood to tighten up controls over advisers, however they don't go as far as the Australian model of licencing. One are of changes will be in disclosure requirements.

The commission's report and recommendations were formulated on feedback to a discussiono document released earlier this year, and consultation with interested parties.
