[The Wrap]
I'm starting to show my age and how long I have been around financial services here. It's like most things move in cycles.
We know markets move in cycles. It's something Harbour Asset Management executive director Ainsley McLaren spoke about at the firm's roadshow this week. There's been a long period of strong returns in the markets, but things are changing.
I've often described financial services in New Zealand as being like a big washing machine, with a large group of people staying in the industry but moving from one firm to another. With bank people it's like they go from blue, to yellow, to red, to green and back to blue.
Speaking of how things go in circles, rumour on the street has it that the NZX-owned managed fund research business is going to be bought by a group who have both been major players in the research business in New Zealand and Australia.
