North Shore rental properties cost top dollar

Sunday 4th of May 2003
Our North Harbour counterparts enjoy cheaper living up north with rents apace with national figures, but that could soon change, say real estate agents.

The most expensive place to rent on the Shore is the Takapuna-Devonport peninsula, with a two-bedroom house costing an average of $339 a week -$131 higher than the national average of $208.

A three-bedroom house in the area costs $419 weekly, and a four-bedroom $546, far higher than the national average of $241 and $313 respectively.

Rent for a two-bedroom house in other Shore suburbs go for an average of $280 a week, while a three-bedroom costs $330 and a four-bedroom $410.

Cheaper living is to be had in Wellsford and Warkworth where rent for a two-bedroom house was $14 below the national average, a three-bedroom $8 cheaper and a four-bedroom nearly $50 cheaper.
