NZMDT cases up

Friday 24th of April 2015

NZX doubled the number of cases referred to the NZ Markets Disciplinary Tribunal last year.

There were 18 cases referred, up from nine in 2013.

The Tribunal said matters were generally referred to it within three months of NZX being aware of a possible breach - ahead of target.  It said the increase in referrals showed NZX Regulation was making more frequent use of it as an enforcement tool.

Tribunal chairman David Flacks said: “While our independence from NZX is critical, the Tribunal has a good robust working relationship with the NZX Regulation team, both on specific matters and in relation to policy and market trends.”
