Outsiders see Porirua as dangerous - secret report

The 61-page report, obtained by The Dominion Post under the Official Information Act, discloses Christchurch, Wellington region and Auckland people's perceptions of Porirua.
Commissioned by Porirua City Council, What Do People Think of Porirua? shows outsiders believed Porirua had high unemployment, rundown housing and the Canopies shopping area in the central city was "full of unsavoury characters".
"People living outside the city are generally negative about Porirua and few would consider moving there," the report says.
