Finnegan replaces Hobbs at Strategic

Tuesday 20th of September 2005

Former Hanover Group chief executive, Kerry Finnigan is taking over the role of chief executive at Strategic Finance. He replaces Jock Hobbs who has led the company since 2001.

Strategic chairman Denis Thom said Hobbs will remain as an executive director with day to day responsibilities and will retain his shareholding.

Hobbs' decision to hand over the reins comes after Strategic recently announced an audited net after tax profit of $25.5 million for the year ending June 30, 2005, up 35% on the previous year's $18.9million.

Hobbs' move to executive director will also allow him to balance his time at Strategic with his role as chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Union.

Finnigan joins Strategic after being chief executive at Elders Finance and subsequently the Hanover Group since late 1999.

For the 10 years prior to Hanover Group, Finnigan was executive director and a shareholder in Bayleys Real Estate Limited. A member of the NZ Society of Accountants, Finnigan for a time worked in Europe and North America on company restructuring and management buyouts. Finnigan starts at Stratetgic on November 1.
