IFA announces new director, further two-year term for Tate
Jordi Garcia has also been re-elected to the board and Jeremy Bendall appointed for a two-year term as one of the two independent directors.
Commenting on the Dowling appointment, which followed elections at the Institute Council Meeting in May, IFA board member Tony Vidler said the IFA was fortunate to have a practitioner with such strong credentials join the Institute.
"Dowling's extensive business experience and acumen will make him a valuable contributor to the board, particularly as we further the interests of our members by positioning ourselves as the only professional body for financial advice in New Zealand."
Dowling holds both the Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Life Underwriter professional designations and has been a financial planner since 1989 when he joined AMP, a connection that remains through his shareholding in the AMP-aligned Stratus Financial Services.
Dowling will replace outgoing board member Liz Koh.
"At this time the Board would like to express its gratitude to Liz Koh, who has served diligently on the Board for the past two years," Vidler said.
