IFA hands out awards

Thursday 23rd of May 2013

The IFA made two Fellowships recognising outstanding contributions at the national level and five President’s Awards recognising volunteer service to the Institute at a local or committee level.

Fellowships
Fellowship were awarded to Lyall Daines for his contribution to Tasman Branch and IFA for over 25 years and to John Doolan for his 22 years service to Central Region Branch and IFA.

President’s Awards
Five President’s awards were made honouring the Institute’s quiet achievers who have dedicated their time, energy and intellect for the common good of IFA and the financial advice profession.
They were given to:

  • Neil Miller for his contribution to the Central Region branch. He is in his second decade on the local branch committee.
  • Luke McKenzie from Hamilton for his contribution to the Waikato branch executive over the past six years.
  • Coralie Yorke from Palmerston North for her reliable and dedicated contribution to the Central Region branch and executive.
  • Mike Staal from Auckland for his contributions to FPI, IAFP and IFA. He was involved in the development of the first ode of Professional Pratice and Conduct for the association and more recently serving on the Code Committee in 2009.
  • Fred Dodds from Wellington for his long service and selfless contribution to the profession which spans over three decades, and his outstanding service, enthusiasm and concern for the wellbeing and development of financial advisers. Dodds, who headed up TOWER Financial Advisory Services, was made redundant recently and is considering his future in the industry.

I would hope that other advisers, be they IFA members or not, join me in congratulating Neil, Luke, Coralie, Fred, Lyall and John for their fabulous voluntary contributions over the many many years. Most of these folk were contributing and working on committees when we were all part of the LUA....way back in the day. These people do a lot of unpaid hours to help other advisers. Thanks guys - all thoroughly deserved.
