Monday 4th of June 2012

The Institute of Financial Advisers (IFA) has appointed Wellington-based financial adviser Michael Dowling to its board replacing Liz Koh.

Dowling, who has an insurance background, holds Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations.

Dowling has been a financial adviser since 1989 when he joined AMP, a connection that remains through his shareholding in AMP-aligned and Wellington-based Stratus Financial Services. He currently serves on the Institute's Insurance Special Interest Group and is a member of the Professional Development Committee.

Nigel Tate has been re-elected, at the institute's recent council meeting, for  a further two-year term as president. Also re-elected to the board was Jordi Garca. Jeremy Bendall of Auckland was also appointed for a two year term as one of two independent directors.

The other board members are: Tony Vidler, Neville Caird and independent director Julie Berry.
