Rental Shortage: Hawera, New Plymouth

Some workers had to stay in Stratford or New Plymouth and travel to work each day.
"The motor camp has been used regularly," Ms Judd said. "I even had one person sleep in her car."
She said rent had increased by 10%-15% in the last three months.
"I usually have 25 to 30 (rental houses) vacant a month, now I only have five three-bedroom homes on the books," Ms Judd said.......
