Tower partnership improves process for disaster claims

Monday 28th of June 2021

For all claims related to EQC, Tower will assess, manage and settle claims up to the statutory capped level of damage under the EQC Act.

Then Tower will cover additional losses, up to customers sum insured limit.

Tower chief executive Blair Turnbull welcomes the announcement that Tower customers will have a single point of contact to support their insurance recovery if their home or land is damaged in a natural disaster.

"New Zealand is the second most at-risk nation in terms of national disasters," he says.

"So the insurance sector needs to keep finding ways to streamline how we handle natural disasters.

“Working together we can make things simpler for people dealing with the aftermath of natural disasters.

"There’s no need for people to deal with multiple parties and I’m pleased we’ve been able to work with EQC and the Insurance Council of New Zealand to make this vision a reality for customers,” says Turnbull.
