Victory funding should help to lift stigma

The Victory Community Association has received $183,000 from the Economic Development Ministry to help fund a Victory Urban Village project, which aims to lift the area's standard of living by improving access to health and family services and better housing.

Victory resident Jodi Pierson said the stigma surrounding the area was worse than the reality of living there.

Mrs Pierson said the fact the Government had acknowledged the area with funding was a positive sign of its progress.

A lot of state housing in the area had been sold, and cheaper house prices in the area meant younger couples had purchased homes and tidied them up, she said.
