When Emotions Steer Investment

It got me thinking about investments. While none of us likes to lose money, or to see the value of our investments fall even if we don't cash them in, it is true that having some down years makes the up years all that much sweeter.

Maybe that partly explains the appeal of shares and property. If your savings are all in term deposits, of course they will grow every year. But you don't get the buzz of big unexpected gains, especially after losses.
