Conference update

Tuesday 30th of November 2004
“Being extremely cognisant of each attendees needs and wants is uppermost in putting together this conference agenda”, says Trisha Edmonds, Chair of Success Forum 2005.

“We want every individual to come away on June 17, having learned something new, and feeling much more savvy about themselves and their practices”.

The conference will without doubt address many issues facing this industry both next year and in the future.

It is all about Raising the Bar in terms of business practice, in advice to clients, and being able to say with hand on heart as an Adviser that defendable practice ethics are promoted.

It is not the intention of this Committee to scoot around generic issues; we plan to cover in detail the actuals, what people really need to know, and more importantly the tried and tested that works. The evidence of this will come from both specialised Keynote and Business Session speakers.

As an aside from other years, the committee have also decided to include, under the Keynote sessions, a panel debate introducing six professionals from within our ranks. Three speakers will defend the affirmative position and the remaining three will debate the negative.

The Committee felt that as much press and discussion over the past couple of years had been centred on the 1952 paper on portfolio theory that an appropriate debate topic would be: “Should Harry Markowitz have remained a green grocer – is Modern Portfolio Theory dead?”

The debate will be chaired by our conference MC Bob Parker and will no doubt attract a large audience with the challenges it will uncover.
