Exciting opportunities are happening in our new, unified Auckland as we work towards becoming the most liveable city in the world - one with an internationally competitive and prosperous economy.
The Manager Digital Enablement is a newly created position in the Economic Development team that is dedicated to implementing the Auckland Council's Digital Enablement Strategy. Managing a small and highly focused team, you will work closely with Government, industry and stakeholders to encourage and support the roll-out and take-up of broadband infrastructure across the Auckland region. Enabling digital access and participation is vital to the development of Auckland and achieving the goal of becoming the World's most livable city, with an internationally competitive, prosperous economy that all Aucklanders can benefit from and participate in.
The Council works both as a facilitator and enabler with the key stakeholders, is the consent authority for most of the works involved, and is responsible for the Auckland WiFi network which covers major public spaces, facilities and the public transport network. We are constantly looking for ways to increase the level of access to, and productive use of digital technology for all Aucklanders, and this role will play a pivotal part in leading our city towards a more connected and productive future.
Don't let this position title deceive you! We are not seeking an IT guru, rather a specialist in strategic 'big picture' thinking, governance and project/programme management who has solid experience achieving major strategic outcomes in a complex, political, multi-party environment. This is where strong advocacy, networking and business partnering skills are essential to enable the successful applicant to lead multiparty steering/project teams to advance projects that will directly impact on Auckland, and New Zealand's, economic performance over the short and long-term.
A large part of this role will be assisting in the political interfacing between Auckland Councils local boards, the local business community, The Mayoral office and the Economic Development department. Therefore, to be successful in this role you will need to be energetic, ambitious and passionate which allows you to confidently lead political forums and discussions when required.
If you have a background in economic development, policy, planning, project management and/or strategy and enjoy managing multi-party projects within complex political environments, this could be the job for you!
