As the Principal Policy Advisor in the Contributions team, you will be responsible for providing expert policy and strategy advice on the funding of Auckland' growth related capital expenditure. The main purpose of the role is to lead the development of contribution policy and to ensure consistent application across the council and region.The ability to demonstrate extensive collaboration and project management experience will be key as you will be required to plan complex policy engagement, allocate resources, manage the delivery of work and present funding strategies for growth infrastructure. This will include modeling outcomes as well as core policy development and implementation, always with an strategic outcome based mindset.

In addition, you will lead and negotiate private development agreements with stakeholders and colleagues across council. Your financial policy expertise will be paramount in establishing early credibility as you develop and maintain effective relationships with business managers throughout the council to facilitate the delivery and simplification of future contribution policies. Your responsibilities will also extend to supporting growth related funding strategies, and ensuring that full documentation of approaches and decisions are maintained and kept available for review when required.

As a subject matter expert on contribution policy within the council, you will be a focal point for the provision of timely and specialist policy and modeling advice, often at short notice.
