Financing Planning Manager, Council Controlled Organisations.

We are seeking a highly-experienced senior finance professional to engage with senior and executive managers at the seven major subsidiaries that deliver a wide range of critical council services such as transport and water services.

You will lead the group-wide processes for preparing, reviewing and analysing these organisations' budgets as part of Auckland Council's overall financial planning process. You will negotiate budget changes and variations to performance targets, as well as proactively managing complex financial issues to support decision-making and demonstrate value for money to the residents and ratepayers of Auckland.

The Auckland Council group, comprising of the parent and its seven major subsidiaries, has assets in excess of $35 billion, annual operating expenditure budgets of $3 billion, and annual capital expenditure budgets of $1.5 billion. Consolidating this prospective financial information presents new challenges to the finance team every day. Negotiating the intricacies of complicated funding structures, legislative frameworks, and governance arrangements requires both flexible thinking and attention-to-detail.

To be successful in this role, you will have proven financial leadership and negotiation skills, preferably with a background in managing budget consolidation processes for a large, complex group. You will have strong communication skills and be passionate about delivering to a high standard.

Ideally, you will be degree qualified with a minimum of ten years experience in a finance or commercial area and a minimum of five years of financial leadership experience.
