A pivotal role on the executive team of the FMA responsible for regulating conduct within New Zealand’s capital markets and the financial services sector.

The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) plays a critical role in regulating capital markets and financial services in New Zealand to ensure they are fair, efficient and transparent.   It is the regulator responsible for providing better outcomes for investors, consumers, professionals, businesses and the New Zealand economy.  

The Director of CAPITAL MARKETS is a significant leadership position for the FMA, providing strategic direction, leadership and operational management of a large team which includes a mix of market, legal and accounting professionals. The role reports directly to the Chief Executive.

This broad and influential role will see you working as part of the FMA’s Executive Committee, you will have input into key projects and initiatives including the development and implementation of the FMA’s regulatory strategy.  This role has regular interactions with the FMA board and divisions of the Board on capital markets matters. 

The function’s mandate is to promote and facilitate the development of, and confident participation in, capital markets by influencing improved standards of conduct and disclosure.

The successful candidate will have a reputation for leading teams which provide well-researched, creative, high quality advice that contributes significantly to decision making at the highest level. As the director of Capital Markets, you will set a clear direction for the function that is committed and energetic and whose output is widely respected.
