Fund Managers Central Limited (FMCL), is a Financial Markets Authority (FMA) licensed manager of Midlands Mortgage Trust (Midlands). Midlands Mortgage Trust is a $50+ million managed investment scheme, that invests in first-ranking mortgage securities over residential, commercial and rural properties, delivering a superior cash return to retail fixed interest investors.
This is an exciting time for the Midlands. With banks historic low interest rates and tightening their lending criteria, Midlands is amid the growth phase both as a quality investment option and dynamic lender. The fund is experiencing rapid growth and is in need of a specialist to help facilitate this growth.
The role
To assist in the growth of the fund in a disciplined and regulatory focused manner, FMCL is seeking to appoint an Investment Manager. Reporting directly to the CEO, this new autonomous role in a growing firm with roots in both Hawkes Bay and Taranaki, with a clear focus on the Lower North Island, signals the intent to expand the FMCL portfolio and to ultimately deliver value to better client investment outcomes.
The position's primary role is responsibility for the growth of deposits into fund through prospecting, referral networks, direct client engagement as well as answering queries via our website and onsite walk ins. This is an autonomous role where client engagement, empathy, satisfaction, experience, knowledge of regulatory requirements and growth are all key deliverables.
What you’ll need to bring
You will be comfortable talking to clients from all walks of life and needs, large investors to small. You will have a passion for investments and understand the role that a mortgage fund plays in the deposit market. You will also understand “class advice” as opposed to “personal advice” and the role it plays and how to deliver it well.
Most of all you will care for positive outcomes for clients and believe Midlands has a large role to play.
Skills and experience
We’re looking for an individual who will have:
- The ability to display knowledge, understanding, and experience in the investment market and the associated dynamics of this market. It is imperative that you understand the deposit market and mortgage securities and the associated client due diligence and wider regulatory requirements.
- A proven stakeholder management skillset.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to influence others and behaviourally you will be a hard worker and a keen learner.
- Exceptional communication skills (Both verbal and written) Impeccable integrity Attention to detail and strong analytical and business acumen.
- A can-do attitude who works effectively within a team culture.
- Working knowledge of regularity requirements including, but not limited to: Financial Advisers Act 2008, Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009, Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013, Financial Services Legislation Amendment Act 2019
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Existing networks and relationships in Hawkes Bay and or Taranaki and ideally the rest of the Lower North Island.
- 5+ years’ experience in financial service or banking with front office client-facing exposure
- An AFA qualification is preferred
- To be available to be in Taranaki one week each month, otherwise will be based in our Hastings office.
- A current clean and full NZ Driver’s license.
