Morningstar Australia head of consulting Anthony Serhan has taken on the additional role of head of research, effective immediately. Serhan will replace Justin Walsh, who has been with Morningstar since 2003, and who is leaving to pursue other opportunities. In his new expanded role, Serhan will sit over both research and consulting and is intending to hire two new employees – one in consulting and the other in research. According to Serhan, the investment consulting side of the business is now looking more closely at model portfolios, asset allocation and approved lists, which is similar to the work undertaken by Morningstar’s US analyst team. The research side of the business is currently in the middle of its Australian equity review, which will continue on course. Serhan has been with Morningstar for more than two years and has 20 years’ experience in both retail and institutional financial services. He is also chairman of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia’s Investment Committee and an associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. Morningstar is the holding company of InvestorInfo, publisher of InvestorDaily.
