Appointment to Board of Guardians of Super Fund

Finance Minister Michael Cullen has announced that John Evans has been appointed to the Board of Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation.

The Board of Guardians is responsible for setting the investment policies of the New Zealand Superannuation Fund and for overseeing its operations. Evans has extensive technical knowledge of investment issues which will be a valuable addition to the skills of the board.

Evans is based in Sydney where he is the managing director of PGE (Australasia) Pty, an actuarial company specialising in the application of quantitative techniques to investment business. He is also Associate Professor in actuarial studies at the University of New South Wales and Director of the Centre for Pensions and Superannuation.

His term runs until 15 December 2011.
