Waitara leased-land row closer to hearing

While a hearing is still some time away, lawyers for several parties made submissions to Justice Paul Heath on just who should appear in the case between the association and the New Plymouth District Council.
The association is challenging the council's decision of March 30 to sell 146ha of leasehold land to the Crown, on condition it then uses the land as part of its Treaty Settlements to Te Atiawa.
At the end of yesterday's hearing, Justice Heath made several rulings, most of which went the way of the plaintiff, the WLA.
