Industry Leadership Role

The New Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association (NZMBA) represents the interests of over 650 members in the dynamic and rapidly growing financial services sector in New Zealand. The NZMBA’s clear vision is “leading the way for New Zealand’s mortgage advisors”. The Chief Executive will provide leadership to the group in the areas of training, development of standards, codes of practice, pro-motion of member interests and advocacy with Government and related bodies and organisations. The key focus of the role is to lead the industry to new levels of professionalism and credibility to further enhance broker standards.

Reporting to a Committee, the Chief Executive will work with all members of the group to provide a unified and cohesive membership by adding value, the development of a robust accreditation and training programme, strong input into membership recruitment and ensuring the industry is promoted vigorously using relevant media opportunities. Well-developed networks and contacts will assist in this. Lobbying and advocacy will also be required. Coordination of the annual conference, regional meetings and relevant events will also be required. This is a hands-on role requiring strengths in administration, financial management and computer literacy.

Applicants must have a very strong service orientation, a commanding personal presence and a very responsive and proactive style. Evidence of innovation will be sought. Ideally candidates will have a thorough understanding of the financial services and/or mortgage market and proven leadership from a senior level within the financial services industry. The appointee will be a catalyst who will further develop and enhance the organisation and it’s services. Naturally well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential.
