Investment analyst/junior consultant

The Position

Melville Jessup Weaver is seeking an investment analyst for our Auckland office to join our growing investment consulting practice.   The successful candidate will work within the investment consulting team in the provision of advice to wholesale clients and will have at least 3 years' experience working in the asset consulting or funds management area.  

The role will include work in the following areas:

·         Investment reporting

·         Strategy work:

o   SIPO reviews

o   Efficient frontier modelling

o   Asset/liability modelling

·         Fund manager research

·         Writing reports and economic commentaries

The successful candidate will provide support to the firms' three investment consultants and may also have responsibility for a number of clients.  

The Person

Strong analytical and modelling skills are required together with an interest in economic and market issues.   In addition strong written and verbal communication skills are required to operate successfully in a consulting environment.   Completion of CFA Levels 1 and 2, or progress through the Institute of Actuaries examinations would be an advantage.

Melville Jessup Weaver is a New Zealand actuarial consulting firm with offices in Auckland and Wellington.   The company was founded in 1993 and employs nine actuaries, eight analysts and support and IT staff.

Melville Jessup Weaver provides independent actuarial advice to clients in the following areas:

·         Insurance (general, life, health)

·         Superannuation

·         Asset consulting (investments)

The company is owned and managed by its principals and is the New Zealand alliance partner of Towers Watson, an international employee benefits consulting firm.

The Package

The remuneration comprises a base salary and annual bonus (dependent on the performance of the company and the individual).
