This role requires a senior communicator with the passion and skills to engage New Zealanders in how they can build and protect their wealth – and influence the policies that will make this possible.
Financial Services Council (FSC) members are managing $80 billion of New Zealanders’ savings (as KiwiSaver providers and funds managers) and provide 80% of their personal insurance coverage. In the past two years the FSC has invested substantially in understanding New Zealanders’ savings and insurance needs. The resulting reports have led discussions on major issues like the future of retirement savings and under-insurance. The next phase involves communicating policy solutions.
The Communications Manager will be a self-starter, with a genuine interest in the financial sector, who has a proven ability to develop and implement successful communications strategies at a national level. In this role you will have excellent media management skills, understand the use of social media, the ability to help organise events and be able to work confidently with those at the highest levels in business and government. You will have a network of good relationships with those in the media.
You will have proven news release, newsletter, report and web content writing skills and enjoy managing relationships with FSC members. The FSC's head office is in Wellington, but a majority of its members and CEO are Auckland based. You may be based in Wellington - or elsewhere if you have a home office - and can travel when the role requires. You will be available for at least 30 hours a week and more often if required. A senior market salary will be paid.
Short list interviews will be conducted in June with work in the role commencing in early July, 2013.
Applicants must be currently qualified to work in New Zealand. A full job description is at http://fsc.org.nz/About+Us/Careers.html
