This key role has overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of an Underwriting team. You will be leading, managing and developing a group of talented underwriters, whilst building strong internal and external relationships. This includes performance planning, monitoring of individual performance, and providing feedback to team members on an on-going basis. Coaching in technical skill development and motivation of team members to achieve individual and team objectives is a critical focus of this role.

This position requires an in depth understanding of risk analysis, medical and financial underwriting procedures and guidelines. The ability to impart knowledge of products and systems to a team of underwriters is also essential to success. Previous experience in managing people would be an advantage, and an advanced level of technical expertise is required. You will bring with you technical skills in Life and Disability Underwriting and have the ability to reach sound decisions and solve complex problems independently.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital as you will be working with both internal and external customers to ensure excellent Adviser relations are developed and maintained.
